Web & Tech Definitions
While many of you are already comfortable with these terms, we thought we’d provide a little clarity for those who are new to them.
UsabilityHow easy or difficult it is to use something. Pretty straightforward.
Social Media”Social media is information content created by people using highly accessible and scalable publishing technologies. It is intended to facilitate communications, influence interaction between peers and with public audiences. This is typically done via the Internet (Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, etc.) and mobile communications networks.” – Wikipedia.com
Information Architecture“Somebody has to take responsibility for figuring out what a website actually does and how people are going to get around it, and then put together a blueprint that everybody else can work from.” – Glossary of Internet Terminology, Ogilvy
Back-end possibilities”In software architecture and software design, the front-end is the part of a software system that interacts directly with the user, and the back-end comprises the components that process the output from the front-end. – Wikipedia.com
In other words, if the front-end is a watch face, the back-end is the cogs and wheels that make the watch tell time.
Content ManagementContent management is a system that puts web site management and editing capabilities in the hands of the people who are closest to the content. CM gives the website owner the power to make changes immediately, without going through a programmer.
SEO, or Search Engine Optimization”As an Internet marketing strategy, Search Engine Optimization considers how search engines work and what people search for. Optimizing a website primarily involves editing its content and HTML coding to both increase its relevance to specific keywords.” – Wikipedia.com
If you want to make it to the front page of Google, you need to pay attention to how this search engines look through and catalog your site.

Whether you need a marketing overhaul or to build a website, let’s set up a call.
Take a look at the images to the left. Notice that our websites do not
all look alike. We construct a website from the perspective of what
best communicates a client’s brand, not how we can cram client content into an existing design template. That’s how you create websites that work.
Technology is all of
the behind-the-scenes tools that enable your business to run more
effectively, and allow all of your marketing elements to work together. Too
many businesses are slaves to technology when it should be the other
way around. On Track understands how
to put technology to work for our clients.

Web Traffic Analysis Understanding how people interact with your website can help strengthen your future goals.

Search Engine Optimization We can help improve the volume or quality of traffic to your website through search engine results.

Email Marketing Trackable email newsletters are essential tools for online marketing. We could spend hours of the day dealing with the headaches of spam filters and email databases, but we'd rather use that time for client work. But there are companies who do, and we know which ones are reliable. We've already tested numerous third party programs, and can spare you the pain of trial and error.

Content Management is a system that puts web site management and editing capabilities in the
hands of the people who are closest to the content. When time-sensitive
information on your website needs to be updated, you want it to happen
immediately. CM gives you the power to make changes without going
through your agency, saving you time and money. On Track’s CM system is
flexible enough to accommodate our award-winning designs while still
accommodating multiple users and access, capturing content history, and
many other features. Best of all, it’s been tested, it’s stable, and
it’s being used by many of our clients.
